Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern California

My first position after graduation with my Bachelors in Communication. I managed all fundraising efforts to support the financial need of operating the Charity. I organized and coordinated several events each year including the Red Shoe Crawl, Sporting Clays Tournament, Big Day of Giving and others. I was also responsible for writing grants to fund different programs such and the Caring Cart and Adopt-A-Family.

Annual Red Shoe Crawl

30 local Sacramento Restaurants, 700 participants, 4 hours, 100 volunteers, and of course...red shoes! Participants get to sample culinary delights from the best restaurants in the region while leisurely strolling from restaurant to restaurant in the downtown and midtown areas of Sacramento. It was my duty to organize the event to every detail; working with local restaurant owners and managers to sign them up as participating locations for the event.

Wes Justyn Memorial Sporting Clays Tournament

Think of it as a golf tournament, only with shotguns! Named after one of the founders of the event, this fast-paced tournament takes place in quaint little town south of Sacramento name Ione with a backdrop of Lake Camanche. I was tasked with organizing the entire event, managing all of the participants and volunteers, collecting raffle items, and ensuring everyone was having a fun and safe time!

Can-Tree Lane: Food Drive and Fundraiser

Think...decorated holiday trees, but instead of evergreens they are cans of peas and carrots! I was the organizer of the inaugural year of this event. Since the House added 20 rooms while I worked there, they were low on food for the 38 families they were serving every night. It's a mix between a fundraiser and a community event.

Charity Website/Social Media

My first task when arriving at the Charity was updating their website...the only roadblock was that I didn't know how to write html code - SO I LEARNED! A few months after starting, I convinced the Board of Directors to allow me to work with a programmer and change the platform to a WordPress back-end to be more user-friendly and provide the Charity with a blog. I also managed all of their social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest.
